Akron, Ohio - January 2008 - HB Chemical announces an agreement to market polyester polyol producer Dow Hyperlast's plasticizers, augmenting their Merrand International specialty plasticizers product line. Hyperlast Ltd., based in Birch Vale, Derbyshire, England, was acquired by Dow Chemical's PU Systems in May 2006 from British Vita and specializes in polyester PU elastomers for the marine, engineering resin, oil and gas pipeline and automotive industries.
Marketed by HB Chemical throughout the NAFTA Region under the DIOPLEX tradename, the Dow Hyperlast polyester/polymeric plasticizers range from in viscosity from 200 to 175,000 cPs. Applications include PVC plastisol, PVC calendered film, coated fabrics, lubricants, specialty molded and extruded rubber, printing roll covers and can coatings.
Hyperlast has been a leading supplier of polymeric plasticizer in Europe for well over a decade. HB Chemical believes the emerging "green" market requirements in both the EC and NAFTA will benefit from Dow Hyperlast's experience with biodegradeable and phthalate-replacement plasticizers.
